Picking up where 2007's debut Fates left off, Equilibrium is the second release from Montreal’s acoustic guitar genius and YouTube sensation, 28-year-old Erik Mongrain, who’s captivated audiences around the globe with his signature lap tapping playing style. Trumpeter Christian Scott To Release Live At Newport CD/DVD

Concord Jazz will release Christian Scott: Live At Newport on November 4th, the first-ever live album and DVD from critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated 24-year-old trumpeter Christian Scott.

Recorded on August 9, 2008 at the JVC Newport Jazz Festival in Newport, RI, Live at Newport is the follow up to Christian’s sophomore release, Anthem, and his Grammy-nominated debut, Rewind That. The 2-disc set features new takes on songs, plus an all-access DVD with Christian’s live performance and rehearsal footage from Boston’s renowned Berklee School of Music just two days prior to the festival.

Hank Garland Film "Crazy" To Be Screened in Tennessee

Favored Nations will be holding screenings of the award-winning film Crazy, inspired by the life of guitar legend Hank Garland (Elvis, Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins).

Crazy will have a limited theatrical release — beginning October 17th — at Regal Theatres and Carmike Theatres in Nashville, TN and Malco Theatres in Memphis.

The film, which stars Waylon Payne (Walk The Line) as Hank Garland and Ali Larter (Heroes) as his wife, has been winning major festival awards throughout 2008.

MPress Records Announces CMJ Showcases

MPress Records will be hosting two CMJ events this year, including MPressFest ‘08 on Wednesday, October 22nd, and Rachael Sage on Friday, October 24th.

MPressFest at Forum is an evening of music from Rachael Sage, Theo Eastwind, Todd Carey, Joy Askew and Tiff Randol. All artists have been featured on the MPress Records annual charity compilation series New Arrivals, and proceeds from New Arrivals Vol. 3 will benefit the National Eating Disorders Association.

MPress Records founder and New York songstress Rachael Sage will perform an official CMJ Showcase at Kenny’s Castaways in support of her latest release, Chandelier.
